About Mount Carmel, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Mount Carmel is a city found in Wabash County, Illinois, and it is home to about 7,300 residents. It is both the largest city in the county and the county seat. In fact, the next largest community in Wabash County is Allendale, which is home to fewer than 500 residents. Mount Carmel borders Knox and Gibson counties in Indiana, and it is situated at a confluence of the Patoka, Wabash, and White rivers. Mount Carmel has one of the only higher educational institutions in the area – Wabash Valley College.

There are a few notable businesses and things to do in Mount Carmel. Golf fans might like to tee off at the Mt Carmel Golf Course, and area specialty shops like Smith Jewelers, Attic, and Your Flower Shop & Greenhouse hold some unique gifts. Popular restaurants in the community include Hogg Heaven BBQ, Taco Tierra, and Twin Rivers Restaurant. Additionally, the area is well-known for its fall Ribberfest Champion BBQ – a preliminary competition for a major Kansas City BBQ cook-off.

Mt Carmel residents can enjoy four distinct seasons throughout the year, so both hot and cold weather climate controls are needed. In the winter, thermostat readings might reach an average high of only 35 degrees Fahrenheit. January is the coldest month of the year, and overnight lows routinely fall below freezing. Without a reliable gas or electric furnace in place to keep plumbing and pipes from freezing, homeowners could find themselves in some cold – and dangerous – conditions.

Summers in Mount Carmel are hot and muggy. High temperatures well into the 90s are common, and severe weather with the occasional tornado is typical. In order to enjoy the summer while also staying safe, Mt Carmel residents will typically invest in an energy efficient central air conditioning system. These units should be serviced regularly – especially during the spring – so that residents can feel confident the system will work when it is needed.
