About Mount Erie, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Wayne County, Illinois, Mount Erie is a small village with about 88 residents as of 2013. This number was down from the 105 residents that called the community home in 2000.  Mount Erie is located in southeast Illinois about 65 miles north of Evansville, IN, and it is close to other small communities like Olney, Flora, and Cisne.

While the small size of Mount Erie doesn’t make it a prime tourist location, there are several businesses in and around the community that benefit both visitors and residents. Crystal’s Country Cream is a local dining establishment, and there are a couple of stores within the village limits – Madding Farm Shop, Mount Erie Feed and Grain, and McKinney TV Sales & Service.

Fortunately, Mount Erie is located near other communities, so there are many other businesses and attractions found just a short drive away. Nearby Flora is home to the Little Toot train and the Flora Golf and Country Club. A trip to Olney can allow visitors to check out the famous white squirrels or to play at Lacey Dave White Squirrel Mini Golf.

Climate controls are a necessity to live comfortably in the Mt Erie area, especially considering each new season brings new weather conditions. The winter months are cold with some snowfall, and average daily highs only reach the mid-30s. Overnight, low temperatures fall into the 20s or even lower, so it is crucial that residents have a reliable gas or electric furnace in place at home.

During the summer, weather conditions are quite different, with high thermostat readings and humidity levels. The hottest month of the year is July, when daily highs can easily reach the 90s. An Energy Star central air conditioner can help keep interior temperatures cool while also improving indoor air quality and lowering the cost of monthly utilities.
